This afternoon, my daughter brought me to tears.
They were happy tears.
I was sitting in the living room, typing on my laptop, with my legs propped up on the coffee table. Lilian was right next to me at the coffee table, coloring in a book her mommy gave her.
All of a sudden, she put her hand on my leg and said "Booboo. Daddy's Booboo."
There was a red mark on my leg.
I said, "Yep." And she leaned in and kissed it.
And then the sweetest, most genuine thing happened.
(Remember, she's 2 and a half)
She put her hand back on my leg, closed her eyes, bowed her head, and said "Please. Daddy's Booboo. Thanks. Amen."
She sees us pray a bunch, and has prayed with us (mostly before meals and before bed.) But I've never "showed" her how to pray. She just knows it's something we do when we want to talk to God.
It was amazing how instinctive it was for her. I'm honestly still blown away.
She did it once more, and I just watched, crying, and told her Mommy.
That was child-like faith at it's best. Lilian knows God is big, and he protects & helps us. She doesn't ask how God helps, or why she can't "see" him. She believes it, simply because that's what we told her. And her belief caused her to act.
God, I pray a blessing over my little girl. I ask that you continue to shape her and mold her; and reveal yourself to her through even the smallest things. Thank you for her. She's wonderful.
Amen.
